Your fridge light is an essential item in your refrigerator. It helps you to identify items and store them in your fridge easily. Replacing a refrigerator light globe (or bulb) is an easy maintenance task that can be done in minutes. We show you how to easily replace a refrigerator light globe.
A normal globe is not suitable for your refrigerator as it will be exposed to moisture, temperature changes and usage cycles. You will need to replace your light globe with one that is designed to withstand this environment. The shape and size need to be the same as the one you have removed for a correct fit.
To find the correct globe for your fridge, you will need your refrigerator model number.
The typical globe for your fridge is an incandescent globe and are typically 40 watt. LED bulbs are a good choice for a fridge as they can handle the cold temperatures and are energy efficient.
Safety first! Before you get started, make sure you disconnect your refrigerator from the power source.
Your fridge light is located in the centre or front centre of the top of your fridge. To access the old light globe, you will need to remove the fridge bulb cover. Some can be opened by depressing a plastic locking tab. Others may have a mounting screw in place which will need to be removed.
Carefully unscrew the old globe and remove it from the housing.
Unpack your new light globe and place in the socket. Turn clockwise, to screw into place. Replace the bulb cover and secure into place.
With your light globe now installed, you are ready to test your new fridge light. Plug in the refrigerator. Next, open and close the fridge door to check that the light comes on.
